The Philly Contraption Contest will take place at Regina Angelorum Academy in Ardmore on April 14, 2018.

Students from the greater Philadelphia region will compete to build the best Rube Goldberg-style machine that accomplishes the assigned task: Play a musical instrument.

The event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Regina Angelorum Academy at 105 Argyle Road in Ardmore.

The Philly Contraption Contest was formerly known as the Philadelphia Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. It was founded by Victor Fiorillo and is program of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia, a 501c3 independent charitable trust supporting arts and heritage programs of diverse disciplines and cultural traditions.

The Philly Contraption Contest is a volunteer-driven, non-profit initiative. This event is not connected to the for-profit Rube Goldberg Incorporated or the national Rube Goldberg Machine Contest.

  1. This is awesome! My 4th graders at Waldron Mercy Academy did a Rube Goldberg Project for me. Their goal was to incorporate at least three different simple machines, using Lego WeDO, K’Nex, found objects, and if they wanted to, Scratch, to accomplish something. They had three 1 hour class periods to complete their task.
